NICOLAS CIFUENTES GONZALEZ

Colombian filmmaker and photographer passionate about poetic expression through the image. Founder of Chakalaka Films.

The camera is for me a means to apprehend the instant, a way to relate to the world, to seek beauty in the desperation of forms. With photography I explore the image as an expression of the space, with cinema the image that takes place in time. My writing is that of reflections that seek the encounter, the capture of the self that is neither one nor the other, but the gesture that returns the gaze and gives life to the images. I have experience in auteur filmmaking, accompanying or directing documentary and fiction recordings. I have specialized in alternative methods of photography, I am interested in questioning the materiality of the visible.
